Administration/Governance Section

  • Awards Committee
    Mission Statement - The purpose of this committee is to receive and consider nominations for the society's defined award categories to be awarded at the annual meeting each November.  Nominees are notified prior to the Awards Luncheon that they have won an award and are invited to be present to receive the plaque indicating the award and the year.

    Mission Statement - The Development Campaign is committed to fundraising dedicated to raising awareness and support for education, assessment, treatment and research in trauma and the dissociative disorders. We are committed to seeing ISSTD and the dissociative disorders rise to greater respect and understanding in the clinical world.  The way ISSTD will be best able to command that respect is through funding that will enable greater visibility, broader educational impact, and attracting more members of the highest caliber.

    Mission Statement - The mandate of the certification task force is to generate a proposal for an ISSTD Certification Program, which will be presented to the EC for their consideration. Such a program would be a credential that can be used as evidence of basic knowledge about dissociative disorders and their treatment.

    Mission Statement -  Expand the knowledge and understanding of the spectrum of childhood and adolescent dissociation worldwide among professionals and the public.
  • Dissociative Disorders Psychotherapy Training Program (DDPTP)
    Mission StatementThe DDPTP is dedicated to providing the highest quality educational experiences for all mental health professionals on subjects related to dissociation, chronic trauma, and human resilience.

  • Journal of Trauma and Dissociation
    Mission Statement - The Journal  of Trauma & Dissociation is the official journal of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation. The Journal is  dedicated to publishing peer -reviewed scientific literature on  dissociation, dissociative disorders, posttraumatic stress  disorder, psychological trauma and its sequelae, and on aspects  of memory associated with psychological trauma and dissociation.  The Journal of Trauma & Dissociation seeks manuscripts on theory, basic science research, clinical treatment and research related to psychological trauma, dissociation and traumatic memory  in children and adults. The Journal welcomes contributions  from anthropological, cross -cultural, neurobiological, pharmacologic,  physiologic, psychological, psychometric, psychotherapeutic, and social viewpoints. The journal is published quarterly.

  • Professional Seminar Committee
    Mission Statement - The Professional Seminar Committee is set up to facilitate the provision of quality professional education, consistent with the ISSTD Mission Statement, through a series of one-day Professional Development Seminars each year. This is to be accomplished by generally adhering to the "Four Tier" plan, previously approved by the ISSTD Executive Council. Each of the four approaches in the plan is designed to include one or more of the following goals:

    + educating professionals about the effects of chronic traumatization;
    + introducing the concept of dissociation;
    + spreading knowledge about ISSTD;
    + facilitating increased ISSTD membership;
    + assisting in the development and/or revitalization of Component Groups;
    + increasing attendance at the ISSTD Annual Conferences;
    + learning from each seminar & developing a plan/proposal for the following    year;
    + minimizing potential financial loss, remaining revenue neutral, or realizing a    profit that can be utilized by the Committee/Society for future projects.

Research

  • David Caul Graduate Research Grant Committee,
    Mission Statement - The purpose of this committee is to provide financial support for meritorious dissociation research conducted by graduate students and others in training. These small grants represent ISSTD's commitment to promoting education and research.

    Mission Statement - the membership committee is established to consider how best to attract and retain a mix of members, clinicians and other professionals whose work involves understanding and disseminating an understanding of trauma and dissociation.  Within that context we are involved in liaising with other committees such as education, communication, PR etc.

               Mission Statement - To advance the understanding, research, and            treatment of dissociation among the graduate student population.

    Mission Statement - To recruit members from around the world to help with ISSTD committees and task forces, providing an avenue for members to become involved in the inner workings and outer expression of ISSTD, bringing their experience, cultural knowledge, and sensitivity to the organization. To serve as a conduit between the needs of the committees and task forces and the talents of the members of ISSTD.

Communications and Public Relations Section

  • Communication Standards Committee
    Mission Statement - CDI is to review and approve educational materials
    disseminated by the ISSTD for a) readability, b) scientific validity, and
    c) appropriateness for intended audience and usage.
  • ISSTDWORLD Listserv
    The ISSTDWORLD has a special electronic mailing list that serves as an international forum for our members. We believe that perspectives from different parts of the world are invaluable in better understanding dissociative disorders and other trauma-related conditions. If you are an ISSTD member and want to be subscribed to the ISSTDWORLD listserve, please e-mail the list moderator (above). Non-members of ISSTD are also welcome to join the listserv.  The requirement is that the potential member is either a therapist or a student studying trauma and dissociation, and may send a CV to the list moderator.
  • ISSTD News
    Mission and Editorial Policy - The ISSTD News is the official news letter for the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.  It is published on a bi -monthly basis for its members.  The purpose of the newsletter is to present current scientific and clinical information to its members on topics related to complex trauma, dissociation, and psychotherapy. It provides current information on related topics of forensics, psychology, psychiatry, and ethics.  It is published six times per year or bimonthly. Material is submitted by members and other professionals as well as solicited by the editors of the ISSTD News.  Material that is considered controversial is reviewed by the Editorial Board. Opinions expressed in articles contained in the ISSTD News are those of the authors, not necessarily of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation or its members. ISSTD encourages contributions representing a diversity of viewpoints and disclaims any responsibility for making substantive review or assessment of the accuracy or validity of the contents thereof.
