DISSOC
ISSTDWorld and ISSTDChildTherapists Listservs:
The
International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation
(ISSTD) provides these listservs as forums for students and
professionals in the study and practice of treating childhood
and adult trauma and dissociation.
Membership Requirements
Membership
in both ISSTD listserves is open to students and professionals
involved in the study and practice of treating childhood and
adult trauma and dissociation on the respective lists. Prospective
list members should send an e-mail to list moderators at rhoades@pdchawaii.com (ISSTDWorld)
and naamayehuda@aol.com (ISSTDChild).
Included in the e-mail should be the desire to join the listserv
along with documentation of their interest in the study and
practice of treating childhood and/or adult trauma and dissociation.
The use of curriculum vitae is typically sufficient to document
said interest/orientation. Membership in the ISSTD is encouraged,
but not required to join an ISSTD listserv.

ISSTDWorld and ISSTDChildTherapists Listserv Rules
and Privacy Policies:
The International Society for the Study
of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) provides these
listservs as forums for students and professionals in the study
and practice of treating childhood and adult trauma and dissociation.
By subscribing to and receiving any ISSTD email list, including
having access to listserv posts through email and the archives,
you acknowledge and agree to the following rules. Address questions
about the rules or list to list moderators, rhoades@pdchawaii.com (ISSTDWorld)
and naamayehuda@aol.com (ISSTDChild)
not to the list.
Please read the following Listserv rules which apply to both
the ISSTDWorld and ISSTDChildTherapists listserves.
Netiquette Rules
Subscribers may not forward ISSTDWorld or ISSTDChild
posts, or personal content from them, without the original
poster's prior written permission. If an email contains posts
from more than one person, you must get prior permission
from all posters. Do not "flame." "Flaming" includes
derogatory comments, ridicule, excessive sarcasm, and belittling
others. Respectful disagreement is not flaming. Every subscriber
must be respected; no subscriber should be ridiculed or belittled
on the listserv or by private email. Keep posts on-topic. The general guidelines
for topics are discussion of trauma and dissociation for
the respective areas of adult and child. Please keep posts brief and to-the-point. Use a descriptive
subject line. Posts to a single person, such as "thank
you," "I agree," or sharing stories and lengthy
personal anecdotes, should be sent privately off-list.
Please include your name and email address in all
posts to the listservs.
Privacy Policies:
Subscribers may not forward ISSTDWorld or ISSTDChildTherapist
posts, or personal content from them, without the original
poster's prior written permission, as stated above. If an
email contains posts from more than one person, you must
get prior permission from all posters. Forwarding
list posts or sharing personal content in them without prior
permission from the original poster(s) will be grounds for
removal from the lists.
It is generally wise to avoid using personal names
or other identifying details in describing cases or situations. ISSTD
takes no responsibility for personal information included
in list posts. It is the list member's responsibility to
exercise care in sharing information via the listservs and
to be aware of the practical limits of confidentiality on
any listserv. Do not post anything in a Listserv
message that you would not want the world to see or that
you would not want anyone to know came from you.
Additional Rights and Responsibilities:
Copyright
By subscribing to ISSTD lists, you agree not to send posts
that infringe upon the copyrights belonging to others. Do
not post full articles to the lists. If there is an
article you wish to share, please post 1-2 paragraphs and the
link to the article, for other list members to read. You further
agree not to post to the lists any message or other text from
outside the list without the author's express permission, unless
the item is clearly for public dissemination (example: a press
release or public event announcement), or is within the 'fair-use'
limitations as set by international copyright conventions.
You acknowledge that in most cases this prohibits posting complete
articles from newspapers, magazines, or web sites, and that
you will generally need to provide a link to the material,
instead of posting the full text to the list.
If there is no link, you may offer to send it backchannel to
persons who email you privately as long as you comply with
copyright and fair use requirements. It is your responsibility
to determine if you are complying with these requirements;
ISSTD takes no responsibility for such forwarding of materials.
Advertising
Advertising is expressly forbidden. No commercial
use shall be made of these Listservs or their membership. This
includes, but is not limited to, using names, email addresses,
or other information from the ISSTD lists or membership directory
to advertise or sell any product or service, or to assist
another in doing so. Sending unsolicited advertisements or
information of a commercial nature (selling any product,
service, or anything else for a fee) to other subscribers,
whether through the lists or privately, is a violation of
these rules. An exception to the advertising ban are notices of
conferences, trainings, and the release of new books on trauma
and dissociation.
Responsibilities The opinions and information expressed on these Listservs
are solely those of the email authors alone. The
use of ISSTD listservs does not create supervisory relationships
or client/therapist relationships between listserv members.
ISSTD is also not responsible for private email or other
communications backchannel or off-list. Questions or concerns about the list should be sent
to the List Moderators at the following adressess, rhoades@pdchawaii.com (ISSTDWorld)
and naamayehuda@aol.com (ISSTDChild)
and not to the respective lists.
List Moderation and Enforcement
The ISSTD lists are private, moderated Listservs,
moderated by at least one experienced therapist on the moderation
team that is trained in child (ISSTDChild) and/or adult (ISSTDWorld)
trauma and dissociation. Participation in
the listservs is a privilege and not a right. These
rules are intended to improve the usefulness of the Listservs
for all subscribers. Therefore, each subscriber is expected
to be familiar with these rules and to abide by them.
Subscribers who consistently have problems adhering to the
rules of the ISSTD Lists may be put on moderated status indefinitely. "Moderation" is
a process by which email messages sent to the list must be
approved by the List Moderation Team or moderators before being
sent to the list. Posts are moderated for adherence to list
rules, not for point of view. Violations of listserv rules
may also result in suspension or exclusion from the Listservs
if warranted.
The ISSTD list moderation teams may unilaterally change a member's
listserv options, including placing the member on moderated
status, or removing a member from a ISSTD List, for any reason.
If the member disagrees with this action, he or she may ask
the list moderation team to reconsider the decision. After
this, if the member disagrees with the final decision, he or
she may file a complaint with the Executive Committee of ISSTD
by sending an email to the ISSTD Executive Director, Heidi
Walker. The Executive Council of ISSTD
has the final determination concerning the Listservs.
Complaints
Do not send complaints about other listmembers to
the Listservs. Complaints about compliance with
Listserv rules should be sent to rhoades@pdchawaii.com (ISSTDWorld)
and naamayehuda@aol.com (ISSTDChildTherapists). Complaints
should include a copy of the message in question and should
describe specifically the reason for the complaint. Following
receipt of a complaint, the list moderation team may use
its discretion in determining whether a violation has occurred,
whether further action is required, and how to implement
that action. The list moderation team will consult with the
ISSTD Executive Council as needed.
