September 27-28, 2025 | Online

ISSTD is thrilled to announce our 2025 Virtual Conference, Minding the Gaps: Listening for the Unspoken and Seeing the Unseen! This online only event will take place on September 27-28, 2025. Early bird registration is open now through August 31, 2025.

Meet our Plenary Speakers

Lynette S. Danylchuk, PhD
Lynette Danylchuk, PhD., is a Clinical Psychologist, a graduate of Princeton Theological Seminary, and The California Graduate School of Family Therapy (now Argosy). She has been working in the trauma field since mid-80, starting with Vietnam Vets and people with complex trauma and dissociative disorders. She served 12 years on the original Board of Directors of Survivorship, and then worked for the Board of the Star Foundation for several more years. She had her private practice in San Mateo, California, where, in addition to working with clients, she did (and continues to do) periodic consultation and teaching where she sees a need, including a local graduate school, juvenile hall, or the county trauma-informed services conference. Lynette has been adjunct faculty to graduate schools in the San Francisco area where she has taught, and been a dissertation chairperson. She has given keynote speeches and workshops across the state and at annual conferences of the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD).

She has been a member of ISSTD since 1996. She served as Volunteer Chair, Director of the Professional Training Program for seven years, and as a Member of the Board. She is a Past President of ISSTD, having served as President in 2015. She has received numerous awards over the years, including ISSTD’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. She is currently still on a number of ISSTD committees, and is Co-Chair with Joan Turkus of the Center for Advanced Studies. In addition, she often presents at ISSTD events, and is doing consultation work with therapists around the world.

She and Kevin Connors completed the second edition of their book ‘Treating Complex Trauma and Dissociation: A Practical Guide for Navigating Therapeutic Challenges’, published by Routledge. Their book received ISSTD’s Frank Putnam Award for best clinical book of the year (2024).

Jennifer M. Gómez, PhD
Jennifer M. Gómez, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the School of Social Work and Faculty Affiliate at the Center for Innovation in Social Work & Health at Boston University. Additionally, she serves on the Boards of Center for Institutional Courage and End Rape On Campus. At ISSTD, she serves on the Board, Scientific Committee, and Annual Conference Committee, and is a guest co-editor of the upcoming special issue of Journal of Trauma & Dissociation on intersectional oppression, dissociation, and healing in diverse marginalized people. Dr. Gómez’ research centers around cultural betrayal trauma theory (CBTT), which she created as a Black feminist theoretical framework for examining the impact of violence within the context of inequality on Black and other marginalized populations. Her research has been published in over 100 peer-reviewed journals, books, newsletters, regional and national media outlets, and the Open Science Framework. Her work has been funded by the Ford Foundation Fellowships Program, administered by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, & Medicine (NASEM), the Michigan Center for Urban African American Aging Research (MCUAAAR)—National Institute on Aging (NIA), and the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (CASBS) at Stanford University. Her transdisciplinary book, “The Cultural Betrayal of Black Women & Girls: A Black Feminist Approach to Healing from Sexual Abuse”, published by the American Psychological Association, won the 2024 ISSTD Frank W Putnam Outstanding Book Award. In “The Cultural Betrayal of Black Women & Girls”, Dr. Gómez centers Black women and girls through incorporating basic research on racism, intersectional oppression, and cultural betrayal trauma theory, as well as application in the form of culturally competent trauma therapy, radical healing in the Black community, and institutional courage (Freyd, 2018) to promote systems-level change. https://jmgomez.org
