Registration Policies
Receiving Approval to Register
ISSTD is interested in the success of this program. Applicants must be licensed clinicians. If you are a licensed clinician, you do not need to receive approval to register for the The Complexities of Complex Trauma Course.
We do accept students, trainees, interns, etc. under the following conditions:
- If you are currently working under the supervision of a licensed clinician as part of the pre-licensing process, a letter from your supervisor giving you permission to participate must be submitted to professionaltraining@isst-d.org.
- If you are a graduate student, a letter from your Department Chairperson permission to participate must be submitted to the professionaltraining@isst-d.org.
The letter for either must include that your supervisor approves you taking the class, that it will not interfere with your coursework, will not interfere with your practice, and will directly benefit your educational development.
Once a letter of recommendation is received and approval for registration is granted, you will receive an email from staff with next steps for registration. If you register without prior consent, we cannot guarantee your approval and your registration fee may be refunded to you, minus an administrative fee of $45 for handling of improperly submitted registration materials.
Class Size
Registration is limited to no more than 14 persons per in-person and live teleseminar course. Registration limits for online classes may vary.
Course Sequence
Students must start with Level I and proceed sequentially. Level III offers two options: one for those treating adults and another for those treating children and adolescents. Students may choose between these options or complete both after completing Levels I and II.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations will only be accepted up to 14 days prior to the first course session. Cancellations are subject to a $45 cancellation fee plus the cost of copyrighted materials. The course fee is not refundable if you withdraw from the course less than 14 days before the start of the course. Once the course starts, no new students can be accepted more than one week after the course begins. Please note that to receive ASWB ACE credit, all sessions must be attended. All materials used for this course are subject to copyright laws and are not for duplication or distribution by course participants. Fees must be submitted with registration, and must be submitted in US dollars.

Additional Policies
Grievance Policy
ISSTD is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformation with the APA and ASWB grievance procedures.
During a course, instructors will address any concerns that arise. Every effort will be made to address the concerns during the course when possible. If the course instructor(s) are unable to address the participant’s concerns, the complaints and grievances shall be presented in writing to ISSTD Headquarters at professionaltraining@isst-d.org. These will be forwarded on for review by the PTP Chair and Course Level Director(s).
Social Workers: Should social workers have a specific grievance, these grievances will be addressed by D. Michael Coy, LICSW. In situations where the social worker would have a conflict of interest, then, Christine Forner, MSW will review the grievance.
ISSTD strives to resolve grievances in a manner that is in the best interest of the participant. All complaints and grievances are reviewed within 5 working days. Formal grievances are required to be written and emailed as directed above and will be responded to within 15 business days.
Disability Policy (ADA)
We would be happy to accommodate your ADA needs. Please contact ISSTD Headquarters via email at professionaltraining@isst-d.org or via phone at 844.994.7783 for assistance.
