About ISSTD

The International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation (ISSTD) is an international, non-profit, professional association organized to develop and promote comprehensive, clinically effective and empirically based resources and responses to trauma and dissociation and to address its relevance to other theoretical constructs. Check out the different categories of membership here.

Education is one of the primary goals of the Society. In recent years, we have expanded our training opportunities to include conferences, professional training program courses, webinars, and virtual seminars. Many of our training opportunities are available in virtual formats to allow participants from around the world to expand their knowledge in the areas of complex trauma and dissociation. For a current list of training opportunities, please visit the ISSTD Center for Advanced Studies.

Social policy and health care will address the prevalence and consequences of chronic trauma and dissociation, making effective treatment available for all who suffer from the effects of chronic or complex trauma.

ISSTD seeks to advance clinical, scientific, and societal understanding about the prevalence and consequences of chronic trauma and dissociation.

Inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) are critical to ISSTD’s efforts to provide high-quality clinical education and training and accurate scientific understandings of complex trauma and dissociation. These efforts are in service of benefiting individuals, ISSTD as an organization, the field, and, we hope, the world. View IDEA statement.
